Hey first post! Here are a few pieces that I think I may include with my portfolio. What I like in my drawings is that I seem to have pretty good spacial awareness. The lines are usually really clear, and overall the pictures have a sort of elegant quality to them. I do want to work on line symmetry (as in the mirror in the first picture... the top of it is not symmetric). Thoughts?

Dear me: I think you can probably work on some more realism skills. Also you should try putting your characters in a setting or a scene so we can see more depth.
ReplyDeleteNice personal feedback Angela! These are really smart observations, especially the characters in a setting one. I say that all the time to some of my senior BFA students even! Haha!!
ReplyDeleteBasically, I'm saying you're right on track.
Overall you have solid value structure, good proportions and interesting compositions. Great! I'd say that the skull study is the weakest simply due to the uninspired composition. I get that this was probably assignment driven, but that does not mean that you need not think about how your image, whatever it is, interacts with the edges of your surface. Be thinking about both the positive and negative shapes of a composition.
I like the "Why not create" color piece, it's well balanced and keeps my eyes dancing around the picture plane.
