Sequential Assignment

SO for today we have the assignment of doing a series of connected images! I can't say I'm really very experienced with stuff like this, so it was fun to experiment. I decided to put them together in a sort of comic form, just to bounce ideas around my head. I really enjoyed the first panel, even though the second was my original idea. Although I didn't have enough time for it, I'm planning to do better finishes of the first panel. I think with a bit more development and detail it could turn into a cool piece! As for the second, the little girl is based off of my soon-to-be niece, for whom I am trying to make a nursery mural. I wanted to sort of doodle her down to get her character and mannerism down. So even though I am not planning to finish that one, it served as a pre-study to a character who didn't exist before. I think that's a pretty good process I may try in the future.

  1. Hi Angela, Nice work! I'm pleased to see that you did such a great job with both composition and value structure. Especially after reading that you do not have much experience with sequential art. The middle bottom panel is nice because you chose such an interesting perspective.

Be sure to keep that in mind as you move forward. Always give thought to whether your image/idea might be better suited from above, below, behind, from the side, near or far, etc... It's a no brainer to do a straight on image.

Overall, you did great work this past month, I'd say you have a number of new portfolio pieces for sure Angela! Thank you for being so on top of all of your assignments and for completing them with thought and care.
